The following information is an introduction to the club, our aims and activities. This is intended to provide you with an overview of the club prior to applying for membership. If of course you have questions that are not answered here, feel free to contact the Club Secretary at contact@keepthebeatcycling.co.uk.

Origins and purpose of the club

‘Keepthebeat Cycling’ is a cycling club founded in 2012 by Darren Earp, Adam Tansey and Steve Green. The formation came from both a desire to raise awareness of the Keepthebeat charity (of which Adam is a founder and trustee) and as a vehicle to allow participation in, and promotion of cycling events whether recreational or competitive.

Keepthebeat charity

One of the reasons for founding the club was to raise awareness of the Keepthebeat charity; hence the club name partly shares the charity name. For more information about the Keepthebeat charity see their website.

What we do

We are active in both competitive and non-competitive rides, we take part in a number of sportives and charity rides each year and some of us still participate in racing. Keepthebeat Cycling is affiliated to the following governing bodies for our sport;

  • British Cycling (BC): road racing, track racing, cyclo cross and mountain bike
    racing.
  • Cycling Time Trials (CTT): time trialling.

If you are a full member you will be able to enter time trail events which are run under the CTT governing body. If you wish to race in events governed by BC regulations you will need to additionally apply for a personal BC membership and racing licence. Supporter members unfortunately can’t compete in events run under BC or CTT rules but are more than welcome to represent us in other events (charity rides, sportives and leisure rides).

Meetings & Communications

All members will be informed of general meetings, events, results and social activities via email.

A number of us also use social media to keep in touch with the clubs activities and what the members are doing;

Twitter – Follow Keepthebeat Cycling to get news from the club.
